Kuwait Indemnity Calculation Table — By Salary and Years
How to Use These Tables
Kuwait indemnity is paid in days of your basic salary: 15 days for each of your first 5 years, then one month for each year after that, up to a maximum of 18 months (Labour Law No. 6 of 2010, Article 51).
The quickest way to read it is in months of basic salary. Find your years of service in the first table, then multiply by your monthly basic. For example, 7 years is 4.5 months, so on KWD 700 a month it is about KWD 3,150.
Part years add a pro-rata amount, so 7 years and 6 months pays a little more than 7 years. For your exact figure, use the Kuwait indemnity calculator.

What These Figures Assume
- Basic salary only. This is the common practice in Kuwait. If your contract pays indemnity on full salary, use that figure instead.
- A 30-day month. Some employers divide by 26 working days, which raises the first-5-year part a little. The complete guide explains the difference.
- Private-sector workers under the Labour Law. Government employees and domestic workers are covered by different rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is indemnity calculated in Kuwait?
15 days of basic salary for each of the first 5 years of service, then one month of basic salary for each year after that, capped at 18 months. A daily rate is your monthly basic divided by 30. Resigning before 10 years reduces it.
How many months of salary is Kuwait indemnity after 5 years?
2.5 months of basic salary (5 years at 15 days). At KWD 500 basic that is KWD 1,250.
